Modern Foreign Languages
At Golcar J, I & N School we have chosen French as our Modern Foreign Language which is taught throughout Key Stage Two.
We follow the iLanguages French programme which is a skills-based flexible scheme of work. It is mapped to the National Curriculum and KS2 Framework for Modern Foreign Languages. The scheme of work contains a wide variety of exciting and motivating activities relating to the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This enables pupils to become confident language learners.
At Golcar J, I & N School we aim to inspire a passion for language learning through practical and creative activities such as stories, poems, role-play, songs and games. This is so our children develop:
- Confidence to listen attentively
- Confidence to speak with good intonation and pronunciation
- Fluency in reading
- Imagination in writing
- An awareness and understanding of the culture of the countries in which the language is spoken
- The ability to use language creatively and spontaneously.
Through extra-curricular activities, we have also offered French and Spanish clubs to broaden children’s skills and interest in languages including learning about different cultures.
